Actor Daniel Day-Lewis has slammed reports he is a recluse – insisting it is impossible for a father-of-two to stay indoors.
The 50-year-old has only made four films in the last decade – and has spent his time off at his remote home in Ireland, which he shares with his wife Rebecca Miller – a film director and the daughter of late playwright Arthur Miller – and their two sons, Ronan, nine, and Cashel, five.
But although he admits he is a private man, he maintains he does not deliberately hide away from the world.
“It’s been suggested a number of times that I have something of the hermit in me but I certainly don’t feel that’s true,” he said. “I lead a very quite life when I’m not working, but I’m not hiding behind closed doors. How can you be a recluse in a house full of children?”
