A filmmaker is suing Hollywood star David Arquette and his company Coquette Productions Inc. for copyright infringement.
Legal papers filed by screenwriter Fritz Junker in Los Angeles on Thursday claim recent movie The Tripper, which Arquette wrote, directed and starred in, ripped off the 2002 film The Truth About Beef Jerky.
The lawsuit states: “A reasonable audience presented with the two works would recognize The Tripper to be based upon The Truth About Beef Jerky.”
Both films tell the story of a psychopath who hunts down a bunch of hippies at a music festival in California.
Junker is seeking financial compensation of an amount to be determined at trial, reports website TMZ.com.
