Actress Helena Bonham Carter has lashed out at accusations of favouritism regarding her role in upcoming musical Sweeny Todd - as her relationship with the director played no part in her casting.
The Fight Club star, whose partner Tim Burton directed the film, insists she fought for the role of Mrs Lovett against several other actresses - and was chosen for the part by writer Steven Sondheim, not Burton.

Musician Billy Joel is giving a young singer-songwriter his big break - by letting him record his newest track.
Joel has handed Cass Dillon Christmas In Fallujah, which he reveals is “based on letters I got from servicemen who were over in Iraq”.
Proceeds from the track will be donated to Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit organisation established to help returning wounded or disabled servicemen and women.

Actor Adrien Brody spent his youth as a teenage rapper and breakdancer in New York, taking part in street battles with other youths.
The Oscar-winning The Pianist star admits he originally dreamed of being an Eminem-type star, not an acclaimed actor.
And has even considered returning to the rap world if he tires of his acting career.
