The Beastie Boys are to revisit their instrumental album The Mixup by asking a host of British artists including Jarvis Cocker, Lily Allen and M.I.A. to rework tracks and add vocals.
The album was released to lukewarm reviews in June and rapper Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch hopes new lyrics will give the project a boost.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has become the queen of the green celebrities by recycling shopping bags and cycling to work.
But the former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star admits it has more to do with saving cash that being environmentally conscious.
She tells Self magazine: “I take my reusable bag to Whole Foods so I get a discount. I go to Bloomingdale’s on double rewards day. And I always print my dry cleaning coupons before I go. My dry cleaner laughs. He’s like, ‘You don’t have to keep printing them out!’”

Veteran actor Dustin Hoffman has an odd hobby - he likes to watch women shopping for shoes.
The Tootsie star admits he hides in department stores and discreetly watches shoe shoppers.
He tells US magazine the Globe: “It’s a movie and a half. The trying on of shoes is ritualistic. It’s so much joy to watch. Women enter a different atmosphere when they shop for shoes and they pick the ones that hurt the most.”

Bette Midler and Carrie Fisher have joined the cast of Mick Jagger’s The Women remake.
The two stars will join Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes and Candice Bergen in the film, which originally hit cinemas in 1939.
Rocker Jagger is co-producing the movie, which has started shooting in Boston, Massachusetts.

Troubled jazz songstress Amy Winehouse has triumphed at two music awards on the same night.
The Rehab singer was named Best Female at the MOBO Awards and Best Live Female across at the Vodafone Live Music Awards.
Winehouse even made an appearance at the MOBOs, where she performed Me And Mr Jones and Tears Dry On Their Own.

Hollywood star Alicia Silverstone has gone naked for animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The 30-year-old Clueless actress who has been a vegan for a decade, appears nude in a series of print and television advertisements for the group revealing why she ditched meat.
In the TV commercial, Silverstone is seen emerging from a swimming pool while discussing the benefits of a meat-free diet. On the PETA website, Silverstone also reveals why she ditched meat and how her life has improved.

An Israeli filmmaker is to get his six years in the making documentary released on how a number of Jewish woman are keeping Yiddish theatre alive in the United States.
Where once Yiddish theatre was part of many Jews’ social lives going out to see productions in New York, it has dwindled over the years as performers switched from Yiddish to mainstream productions and the famous theatres themselves being turned into other buildings and offices.

Barry Manilow is already regretting sparking a feud with the co-hosts of US TV show The View - because that’s all people want to talk to him about.
The 64-year-old crooner, who is promoting a new album, pulled out of appearing on Tuesday’s programme after producers refused to agree to terms regarding which co-hosts could interview him.

Troubled jazz songstress Amy Winehouse is proving she has recovered from her recent drug problems by heading back to the studio.
The Rehab hitmaker - who recently spent two short spells in rehab - has announced plans for a new album.
“I’m sorted out. Nothing’s wrong with me,” she says. “A lot of fuss has been made about nothing. I’m writing some new stuff and can’t wait to be back on tour.”

Legendary singer Barry Manilow has cancelled a scheduled appearance on U.S. TV show THE VIEW, because he dislikes co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
The mild-mannered Mandy singer was scheduled to appear on the daytime show today to promote his new covers album, The Greatest Songs of The Seventies.
But Manilow pulled out of the show, after stating he finds right-wing host Hasselbeck “dangerous and offensive” and strongly disagrees with her “conservative views.”

Troubled jazz songstress Amy Winehouse has been dumped by James Bond producers over her recent ‘bad behaviour’, according to reports.
The Rehab star was rumoured to be in talks with bosses from the superspy franchise to record the theme tune to the next Bond movie, but her hospitalisation last month after three days of hard partying has allegedly place the deal in jeopardy.

Actor Jeremy Piven is celebrating after winning one of the top awards at the annual Emmys.
The star, who plays agent Ari Gold in the hit show Entourage, won Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series for his role in the Hollywood-based show. He beat co-star Kevin Dillon to the award.

Madonna is celebrating the Jewish New Year by joking she’s the world’s new “ambassador for Judaism.”
The pop superstar and famous Kabbalah devotee met with Israeli President Shimon Peres on Saturday during a family trip to the Holy Land.
Peres gave Madonna a copy of the Old Testament, while the singer presented the politician with a volume of Kabbalah `bible’ The Book of Splendor, before announcing her commitment to Judaism - even though she isn’t Jewish.

Jewish entertainment and information website, JewishTVNetwork.com is to broadcast online a Kol Nidre service from Los Angeles’ oldest synagogue.
The service, which will be streamed from Wilshire Boulevard Temple on Friday September 21, is said to be the first time such an event has taken place.
