Another Jewish contestant has entered the Big Brother house.
Advertising guru Jonathan Durden, 49, joins fellow Semites Zachary Lichman and Carole Vincent in the quest to survive the summer and walk away with the £100,000 prize on offer.
The self-made millionaire was due to have his second wedding this summer but has postponed it until the series finishes. He humbly told viewers when entering the Big Brother house that he is certain to win.
A number of members of Britain’s Jewish community have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Stephen Poliakoff, writer and director receives a CBE for services to drama. Earlier this year, his TV screenplay Gideon’s Daughter scooped Golden Globe awards for Bill Nighy and Emily Blunt.
Audrey Damazer, Justices’ Clerk at the Ministry of Justice received an OBE.

The former OC star has landed a part in The Pentogram opposite the 38-year-old star and he is hoping they might become more than just friends off-set.

Veteran actress Cloris Leachman has challenged theatre star Mel Brooks to a fight so she can prove she is healthy enough for a role in his forthcoming Broadway musical Young Frankenstein.
Leachman, 81, was devastated to learn she had been snubbed for the part of Frau Blucher, Dr. Frankenstein’s household servant - a role she originally played in the 1974 movie version - despite having reportedly breezed through the audition process.

Socialite Paris Hilton’s troubles with the law have reportedly inspired an animated series by comics legend Stan Lee.
The Marvel maestro is in talks with MTV to develop the project, according to U.S. reports.
It is believed Hilton’s ex-boyfriend Paris Latsis is also on board the venture, which has been likened to the Stripperella cartoon developed by Lee in 2003 for Baywatch beauty Pamela Anderson.

Veteran rocker Bob Dylan has been honoured with Spain’s prestigious Prince Of Asturias award in recognition of his contribution to the arts.
The 66-year-old follows in the footsteps of movie directors Woody Allen and Pedro Almodovar, both of whom have previously won the award.
Eight Prince Of Asturias awards are handed out annually to achievers in the arts, science, sports and humanities.

The Mummy star Rachel Weisz has beaten a host of Hollywood’s leading ladies to land a coveted role in the big screen adaptation of Alice Sebold’s 2002 masterpiece The Lovely Bones.
Oscar winner Weisz will play the mother of a young girl who disappears in the movie, which will shoot in Pennsylvania and New Zealand later this year.

Singer and actress Toyah Wilcox is to play the mother of a high-class Jewish prostitute in ITV’s dramatisation of Belle de Jour.
The blog turned book which also spawned a sequel already has former Doctor Who actress Billie Piper in the lead role as the upscale Jewish prostitute which is due to be screened later this year on ITV2.

British film director Michael Winner has beaten the virus that almost killed him, after a five month battle.
The 72-year-old was discharged from a London hospital last Friday almost six months after he was taken ill while celebrating Christmas in Barbados.
Winner was originally taken ill after eating an oyster in Barbados. While in hospital he contacted the MRSA super-bug.
The Death Wish film-maker is back at home and celebrating a new lease of life.

Jazz songstress Amy Winehouse reportedly demanded 24 bottles of champagne for her dressing room at this weekend’s Isle of Wight Festival - only to be kicked off TV screens for being too drunk.
The Rehab singer was due to be interviewed for Channel 4 but producers were reportedly forced to stop the interview after just one minute because of her inebriated answers.
Outspoken critic of Israel and prolific children’s novelist and poet Michael Rosen has been appointed the fifth children’s laureate.
Rosen, who has written over 140 books succeeds Jacqueline Wilson and will hold the title for two years.
“I hope that I’ll be able to boost all children’s reading for pleasure but also to give a special lift to the wonderful diverse world of poetry for children,” he says. “I see my job as Children’s Laureate being an ambassador for fun with books.”
