Hip hop to metal producer Rick Rubin has confirmed he’s taking a leading role at record label Columbia.

The company issued a statement yesterday revealing the Def Jam Records co-founder has been hired and will play a major part in the music group’s immediate future.

His exact role has not been revealed, but the official line is he will “form a dynamic and creative executive partnership” with Columbia chairman Steve Barnett.

Director Steven Spielberg is teaming up with Peter Jackson to bring children’s character TinTin to the big screen.

The filmmakers have reportedly signed a three-feature deal, which will see Spielberg and the Lord of the Rings director make one 3D animated movie each, while the third has yet to be decided.

The character of junior reporter Tintin was the creation of Herge, also known as Belgian artist Georges Remi, in 1929.

Veteran comedy actor Gene Wilder is preparing to make a Hollywood comeback - his debut novel is being turned into a movie.

The Willy Wonka star retired from the silver screen in the 1980s and has since taken up writing, releasing an autobiography in 2005. His first fictional effort My French Whore is due for release this month and film rights have already been snapped up by movie giants 20th Century Fox.

Tom Stoppard’s trilogy The Coast Of Utopia is the big winner at the 2007 Outer Critics Circle Awards, picking up six prizes including Outstanding New Broadway Play.

The Coast Of Utopia also collected Outstanding Director Of A Play for Jack O’Brien, and Outstanding Actress for Martha Plimpton.

The annual Outer Critics Circle Awards are voted for by members of more than 90 newspapers, magazines, and radio and TV stations.

Bob Dylan has topped another rock poll - but this time it’s for a terrible album.

The rocker’s Down In The Groove album has been voted The Worst Album By An Awesome Act in an online Rolling Stone poll, narrowly beating the Rolling Stones’ much-maligned Dirty Work.
