Klez Sisters In New York

London-based Klezmer/Cabaret duo, The Solomon Sisters are to make their New York debut by performing at Makor with a backing group featuring some of the finest Klez performers around.
The two sisters, Madeline and Penelope are influenced by old school New York Yiddish theatre and have performed across their native London.
Accompanying them on stage are musicians Jim Guttmann, David Licht, Jason Rosenblatt and Mike Winograd with joint credits including The Klezmatics and The Klezmer Conservatory Band.

Jazz songstress was relieved when she took the stage the London Astoria on Monday - because she expected a backlash from fans enraged at her short set at the same venue last month.
The British singer upset revellers at club night G-A-Y at the Astoria on 6 January when she ran offstage mid-performance to vomit after spending the day drinking with her friend Kelly Osbourne.

Actor Zach Braff quit his job waiting tables as soon as he landed the lead role in the hit TV series Scrubs, but showed up for one last shift while intoxicated.
The 31-year-old was struggling to make ends meet as an actor in Los Angeles and came in to help the restaurant’s short-staffed manager one last time.

Actress Kate Winslet is teaming up with her Oscar-winning director husband Sam Mendes to work on a new movie.
Winslet, who has been married to the American Beauty filmmaker for three years, has been interested in playing the role of 1920s circus tiger tamer Mabel Stark since 2003.
And now Mendes’ company, Neal Street Productions, has bought the rights to adapt a fictionalised life of Stark by author Robert Hough.

Clean-living star Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle choice is a desperate attempt to beat the cancer “curse” that has gripped her family.
The Shakespeare In Love star has already lost five close family members to the disease, including her father Bruce, and fears she’s also at great risk from terminal illness.
As a result, she’s enforced a strict vegetarian diet on her young family with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and hopes the healthy eating will ward off illness.
