Michael LucasGay Jewish porn star Michael Lucas has raised issue over the way a gay blog has described Israel by saying “people are tired of seeing Israel using its weapons” and has described him as “virulently pro-Israeli”.

Lucas, 34, who runs his own gay entertainment studio, took issue with Queerty over the way it commented on an interview the Russian-born entertainer did with Butt Magazine implying Israel is to blame for Middle East problems.

Stephen FrearsThe Queen director Stephen Frears will reign over the 60th annual Cannes Film Festival in France in May after being named this year’s Jury President.

Frears won a special jury prize at Cannes in 1987 for his Joe Orton biopic Prick Up Your Ears.

In a written statement, the thrilled British moviemaker quipped, “God bless Cannes! (as well as the queen).”

Sacha Baron Cohen as BoratBritish funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen has garnered a surprise nomination from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) for his spoof documentary, Borat.

Despite losing out at with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) this morning, the controversial comedy has earned the show’s star and co-creator recognition in the category of Adapted Screenplay.

The winners will be announced at awards ceremony on 11 February in New York and Los Angeles.

PinkPop star Pink is set to unveil her directorial debut in the form of music video Hello Bonjour by rockers the Pretty Boys.

The duo, consisting of singer Galadriel Masterson and guitarist Hopey Rock, were chosen as the winners of a Nissan-sponsored contest to find new female talent, which was run by women’s magazine Glamour in collaboration with the Stupid Girls hitmaker.

Academy award-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman has enlisted an all-star cast, including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Michelle Williams and Catherine Keener to appear in his directorial debut.

Synecdoche, New York will see Hoffman will play a theatre director who attempts to create a life-size replica of New York inside a warehouse for a new play.

It will be celebrated writer Kaufman’s directorial debut, after writing a string of quirky but successful movies including Being John Malkovich and and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

Lost recordings from Canadian folk icon Leonard Cohen’s early career are set to resurface on reissues of his first three albums.

The previously unreleased tracks will appear on Songs Of Leonard Cohen, Songs From A Room and Songs Of Love + Hate when the remastered albums are released in April.
