Big screen for Little Britain?

The BBC’s popular sketch show Little Britain, starring comedian Matt Lucas, has become the subject of a fierce bidding war in Hollywood, with execs keen to snap up the big screen rights.
Last autumn, Lucas and his screen partner David Walliams spoke of their film plans, but since the success of fellow Jewish Brit Sacha Baron Cohen with Borat, producers are looking for the next big British smash. And they think Lucas and Walliams have it.
“Fox and Warner Bros have been circling around Matt and David, and making some very tempting offers,” an insider told Jewtastic. “There’s a few ideas floating around. One will see Little Britain go to America a la Borat, while another will see two American characters come here and enter the weird world of Little Britain.”
If all goes according to plan, shooting on the project could start as early as this summer, with a spring 2008 release.
