Hollywood couple Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara have been awarded a joint star on Hollywood’s legendary Walk Of Fame.
The pair – who have been married for over 50 years and are the parents of actor Ben Stiller – are only the fourth couple to receive such an honour and are the 2,328th Star.
They met in New York while they were both struggling actors and tied the knot in 1954. Later they became known for forming a comedy double act, and joining improvisational comedy team The Compass Players.
More recently, Stiller won acclaim for his role as George Costanza in the sitcom Seinfeld, while Meara had a recurring role in Sex And The City.
Stiller, who turns 80 this year, was born Gerald Stiller in New York City, the son of Russian and Austrian immigrants. Meara was raised Catholic, but converted to Judaism when the pair married. Stiller has been quoted as saying that “being married to Anne has made me more Jewish,” since she took the conversion so seriously.
