Former Saved By The Bell star Elizabeth Berkley has helped a cancer charity raise much needed funds.
The 34-year-old actress, who also made a name for herself by playing a Las Vegas entertainer in Showgirls, took part in the annual Gilda’s Club Worldwide Holiday Fundraising Raffle and online auction which provides emotional and social supporter for people with cancer.
The event was organised by marketing services company ID Media and supported by many of its clients and media partners.
Gilda’s Club is named after veteran funnyman Gene Wilder’s wife Gilda Radner who died of cancer in 1989.
Through the raffle and eBay auction of items including iPods, shopping gift cards and Broadway tickets, $35,000 was raised which will be matched by a further $35,000 pledged by a Gilda’s Club Worldwide trustee.
“Gilda’s Clubs are essential and important because there really aren’t many places that provide the support services they offer,” said Berkley. “The continuing fundraising efforts of ID Media helps to make sure no one has to face cancer alone.”
