Jews Set To Rock The Grammy Awards

Legendary music producer Rick Rubin, folk rocker Bob Dylan and Israeli producer/engineer Tal Herzberg are among the Jewish nominees at the prestigious 2007 Grammy Awards.
Rubin, co-founder of the hip-hop label Def Jam (famous for the Beastie Boys and Run DMC), is shortlisted for Record Of The Year with his work on Not Ready To Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks and Album Of The Year for Taking The Long Way by the Dixie Chicks, Stadium Arcadium by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, FutureSex/LoveSounds by Justin Timberlake.
Herzberg is nominated for Record Of The Year, for his work as engineer on Mary J Blige’s Be Without You.
Elsewhere, Pink is shortlisted for Best Female Pop for Stupid Girls, from the album I’m Not Dead, Bette Midler for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Bette Midler Sings The Peggy Lee Songbook, Beck for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for Nausea and Bob Dylan for Best Solo Rock Performance for Someday Baby from Modern Times.
Dylan is also shortlisted for Best Rock Song for Someday Baby, and for Best Contemporary Folk Album for Modern Times. Mark Knopfler is nominated in the same category for his collaboration with Emmylou Harris on All The Roadrunning.
Meanwhile, Hassidic reggae performer Matisyahu is nominated for Best Reggae Album for Youth, while the Klezmatics are shortlisted in the Best Contemporary World Music Album category for Wonder Wheel.
Other nominees include stand-up comic and Daily Show regular Lewis Black, who is shortlisted for Best Comedy Album for The Carnegie Hall Performance, Harry Connick Jr for Best Musical Show Album for The Pyjama Game, Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, which is nominated in the same category and Mel Brooks for Best Song Written for Motion Picture for The Producers’ song There’s Nothing Like A Show On Broadway.
Randy Newman is nominated in the same category for the song Our Town, from Cars.
