Jewtopia the bookSam Wolfson and Bryan Fogel, the brains behind Jewish comedy dating play Jewtopia which was a hit first in LA before raking in even more dollars off-broadway in New York have always hinted at their plans to take their franchise beyond just the States.

And now, they’ve finally arrived in London, albeit their book which is now on sale as an essential Chanukah gift at Borders.

This alternative guide to Jewish life and culture puts a spin on everything you always wanted to know about Jews but were too afraid to even consider.

So what of their plans for the comedy play to make it to London?

In March 2005, they told SomethingJewish, they were in talks with Kate Winslet’s husband Sam Mendes about transferring the show to the streets of London.

“We’ve been in talks with Sam Mendes’ company, and within the next two to three months we’ll have a formal announcement. If we come to London Sam and I would like to leave the New York show and come to London for a while, I think that would be good for us,” Bryan said.

Ok, it is now 18 months later and that’s a pretty long wait even by Jewish standards. With Mel Brooks’ The Producers coming down in the New Year, maybe Jewtopia can fill the void and give Jewish Londoners something to go to the West End for.
