Rap mogul Russell Simmons is hosting a major US summit calling for an end to the hostility between Muslims and Jews.
The 49-year-old Def Jam co-founder has teamed up with The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding (FFEU) to promote dialogue between Muslim and Jewish leaders, by uniting an Imam and a Rabbi from 11 major cities in the United States.
Representatives from cities including Dallas, Texas; Baltimore, Maryland; Dearborn, Michigan and Orange County, California, will descend upon the New York Synagogue and the Islamic Cultural Center of New York City on Wednesday in a bid to discuss common ground between the two faiths, and break down religious barriers.
Simmons tells AllHipHop.com: “The goal of this summit is to provide the participants with the tools to cultivate a strong communal relationship as Americans in their hometowns, and not solely as Jews or Muslims.”
