Silver Jews frontman David Berman has posted an advertisement on the cult band’s online bulletin board seeking a summer intern.
The Nashville, Tennessee-based singer and author is searching for a local administrative worker to help him with “a few different” Silver Jews projects.
He writes: “I’ve been wondering for a long time if I was qualified to have a summer intern… I am looking for someone who lives in Nashville who can help me with a few different SJ projects, once or twice a week. Being able to type or run a webpage would be very (helpful).”
Berman is keen to make sure he isn’t inundated with applications from wannabe musicians and writers who just want to use the position to boost their own careers.
He adds, “Alert: I have no ‘connections’. I don’t know anyone who runs a record label besides the two Dans at (Silver Jews’ record label) Drag City. I can’t believe I’m typing this but - ‘Writers and musicians need not apply.’ I’m looking for someone on the other side. I’ve got enough me. I need someone else.”
