Liza Minnelli performed at a Batmitzvah celebration for the daughter of US hair transplant pioneer Dr Joel Kassimir and waived her usual $250,000 fee.

The 60-year-old performed five songs at Charlotte Kassimir’s coming of age party at New York’s Marquee club on Saturday, which was decorated with pink and white crystals by designer Ed Libby at a cost of $1 million.

“Liza is an old family friend and did it as a favour. She can command $250,000 a show and usually doesn’t get out of bed for less than that,” a source told the New York Post.

As well as having a party, the Kassimir family sponsored Friday evening’s Oneg Shabbat at their synagogue, Temple Emanu-El.
