Superstar Barbra Streisand has defended her decision to charge fans up to £500 a ticket to see her perform for the first time in 13 years this summer, because she believes she is as big as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
The Woman In Love star will be appearing on stage in the UK as part of her 2007 European tour, and claims the ticket prices are justified because part of the proceeds will go to her charity, the Barbra Streisand Foundation.
“Seeing Barbra Streisand in concert is a pretty momentous occasion that ranks up there with seeing Sinatra or Elvis,” a spokesperson said.

£500 a ticket is outrageous. Barbra Streisand has seen better days and is definately not worth this sort of money. A great star undoubtedly but not in the Presley/Sinatra class.
If Elvis were alive now then possibly I would pay £500 for a seat but in reality when Elvis was alive his ticket prices were the cheapest you could get for a major star. Most were around 10 dollars for the concert arenas and 20 dollars for Las Vegas. Elvis did not believe in ripping people off.
Get real Babs - bigger then Elvis never - if Elvis were alive today I would pay a Kings ransom to see him - I like your voice Babs - but here’s one girl who wont be buying a ticket to see your show.
