Just when you thought there was nothing Jewish about James Bond, then you soon realise that the signature theme tune was created by none other than a Jewish Londoner.
The name is Norman, Monty Norman and he was born in 1928, on the second night of Passover in London’s East End.
From the 1950s onwards, Norman started to make a name for himself, first as a singer and then as a composer. By the 60s, he was a force in British music and could claim a number of hit musicals he was involved in including Expresso Bongo.
According to Norman, the name given to the popular Bond them is called Dum di-di dum dum which is inspired by a song Good Sign Bad Sign from a musical he composed about the Indian community living in Trinidad.
Currently, Norman is working on his autobiography, A Walking Stick Full of Bagels which reveals his life from growing up to his legal action to prove ownership of the James Bond theme.
