Super producer Mark Ronson has responded to criticism of his cover of The Smiths’ song Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before, claiming Morrissey himself approved of the remix.
Ronson was forced to defend himself after the Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner labelled the reworked track Stop Me a “f**king R+B cover version”.
“When I recorded the demo the first thing I did was send it to Morrissey and Johnny Marr,” he says. “It took a long time to hear back, but I found out that Morrissey liked it. You can imagine how I felt when Marr approved it as well.”
