Jews across Britain look set to go to synagogue for Friday night and Saturday morning services by donning a tomato coloured puffy on their hooter as they take part in Red Nose Day.
Following involvement in the bi-annual charity event by Jewish celebrities including Sacha Baron Cohen, Matt Lucas, Sir Alan Sugar and Maureen Lipman, a number of Jews have decided they will attempt to bring a bit of Red Nose Day fun to Shabbat services over this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to walking in to shul and wearing a Red Nose,” said David from Hendon. “I haven’t told the rabbi I am doing this, so hopefully he will get a nice surprise as well as other shul members.”
A spokeswoman for Comic Relief who organise the day said: “We welcome involvement from all members of the community and across all faiths. It’s wonderful to hear the different ways that people take part in the day.”
