Solly'sPolice are investigating what caused one of London’s largest kosher restaurants to be severely damaged by fire.

Solly’s in Golders Green, north west London, was hit by a blaze on Monday which lasted into the early evening and saw 30 firefighters tackling the fire.

Solly’s, which has been a favourite kosher haunt for nearly 20 years, among the public as well as celebrities, suffered damage to its first floor and roof. No one was injured by the blaze which also saw nearby shops close while firefighters were bringing the fire under control.

According to the police, a full investigation as to what caused the incident is ongoing. “We are keeping an open mind and ask if anyone was a witness to contact us,” said a police officer at the scene.

According to a restaurant staff member, it’s hoped that Solly’s will reopen as soon as posisble. “This is not the end of Solly’s,” she said. “Of course, this is a setback, but we plan to open again.”

Following the incident, fans of Solly’s have set up a Facebook group to show support for the restaurant as well as share experiences of eating there.
