Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has been forced to withdraw his name from contention for the 2008 Emmy Awards for his work on Project Runway – because the reality TV show listed too many producers.
The Miramax co-founder took his name off the nominations list after the team behind the programme was told they had gone over the Emmy limit of 15 producers.
Fellow producer Barbara Schneeweiss told the New York Post’s PageSix: “I called up Harvey and said, ‘We have all these people who have worked so hard on the show who should be recognized’. He was great about it and said, ‘I’ll take one for the team’.”
Weinstein’s brother Bob is still included on the credits – but elder sibling Harvey isn’t bothered about missing out, and said: “I’ve gotten plenty of other awards. It’s the right thing to do.”
