Actor Jeremy Piven is celebrating after winning one of the top awards at the annual Emmys.
The star, who plays agent Ari Gold in the hit show Entourage, won Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series for his role in the Hollywood-based show. He beat co-star Kevin Dillon to the award.
Piven said: “What an embarrassment of riches to even be able to play this role. Last year I impaled myself kissing this [Emmy] up to my father, and I’m going to do it again because I love him, and I miss him and I do it for him.”
But it was a disappointing night for other Jewish actors, who despite being nominated failed to walk away with an Emmy.
Among those were former Will and Grace star Debra Messing, who was nominated for Best Actress In A Miniseries for The Starter Wife, ex-Seinfeld star Julia-Louis Dreyfus, nominated in the Best Comedy Actress category for The New Adventures Of Old Christine, and veteran actor William Shatner, who was shortlisted for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama series for his role in the law drama Boston Legal.
