Gerry StergiopoulosIt’s been the most Jewish of all the Big Brothers and now another contestant, has been revealed as having a kosher connection, bringing the total numder of Jewish housemates to five.

In a late-night philosophical debate between 31-year-old Greek gallery researcher Gerry Stergiopoulos and geeky 36-year-old museum worker Jonty Stern, Stergiopoulos’ Jewish origins were revealed after Jonty reeled off a list of all the Semitic housemates. “Ziggy, Jonathan, me, you (referring to Stergiopoulos), and Carole, ” he said.

This led to a discussion on whether being Jewish was being part of a race.

Stergiopoulos said: “To me, someone who is Jewish practices regularly. Carole, she’s an atheist.”

However Stern said that he defined being Jewish as a racial category, and explained to Stergiopoulos how Jews came to Britain, saying they arrived from France in 1066 with William The Conqueror.

The discussion then went into Jews and the Romans, Hitler and his attitude towards Jews and Ethiopian Jewry.
