Fans of Jewish music are in for a treat this winter as allstar group The Yiddish Twist Orchestra take to the stage at a new arts festival in London’s East End.

The band – who blend traditional Jewish klezmer music with ska-inspired beats, inspired by Jewish bandleader Willy Bergman – will be one of the main performers at the Platforma Festival, an event dedicated to celebrating arts created by and about refugees.

Yiddish Twist brings together some of the most prominent Jewish musicians of recent years, including guitarist Ben Mandelson – previously of 80s world music band 3 Mustaphas 3, and Oi Va Voi trumpeter Lemez Lovas.

Their show will round off the festival on December 3, following a week of other events which will include art and photography exhibitions.

Other highlights of the event include conferences and an acoustic and spoken word event featuring culturally diverse poets and musicians from across the UK.

The concert will take place at the Rich Mix centre in Bethnal Green, East London, on Saturday December 3.
