The mother of troubled songstress Amy Winehouse has blamed her daughter’s health on the pressures of the music industry.
The star checked into a rehab clinic in England after collapsing following three days of hard partying earlier this month.
And Janis Winehouse insists her daughter can’t cope with the pressure of being a pop star – and “lacks the maturity” needed to cope with fame.
“I don’t even think this is Amy’s fault,” she says. “I think her brain is addled. This isn’t Amy. It’s as if her whole life has turned into a stage performance. To begin with, after she left home, she would ring me every day. Then, once she started travelling more, I started to feel a detachment.”
She adds: “I think she was too young. She lacks the maturity to cope.”
