Amy Winehouse’s mother-in-law has lashed out at the troubled singer’s family for allowing her to carry on performing despite being “seriously ill”.
Georgette Civil, mum of Winehouse’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil, has blamed the star’s turbulent life and subsequent drug abuse on her family – insisting they should stop her from working in a bid to focus on getting better.
And Civil, who lashed out at the star last month and called for the police to arrest her after the singer was reportedly filmed snorting cocaine at a London party, has taken aim at the star’s father Mitch, as well as record label bosses.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “Amy has serious health and drug dependency problems but she is pushed into work. Her health is more important than prancing around the on stage. I blame her father and record company. People around her have a duty to help her before she ends up dead.”
The Back to Black singer could face legal action from organisers of a French music festival after she cancelled her headlining slot at the Rock En Seine gig in Paris on Friday (29Aug08), citing illness as the reason behind the scrapped appearance.
