Lindsay Lohan’s girlfriend Samantha Ronson has been attacked by animal rights activists, after criticising Californians’ decision to pass an animal rights bill, but ban gay marriage.
After a vote in the state last week, Propositions 2 and 8 were both passed – improving protection for farm animals and, at the same time, outlawing same sex marriage.
The lesbian DJ responded to the results by posting a message on her MySpace.com page which read, “I just think it’s frightening that people show more compassion for tomorrow’s dinner than for the chef.”
The note prompted outrage from animal rights supporters, who inundated Ronson with angry emails.
But she is refusing to apologise, adding a new message that reads, “I apparently offended some animal lovers. Um, really people? I love animals as much as anyone, I don’t eat pork – so, for those of you fighting that good fight against me.., shut up!
“I was just pointing out the fact that people in California seem to care more about animal rights than human rights I’m not running around killing chickens for fun or firing a slingshot at a squirrel.”
