Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson is tired of people mistaking him for an American – because his British heritage is crucial to his musical ability.
The 32-year-old, who picked up the Best Producer prize at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, was born in the UK but spent a lot of time in New York while he was growing up.
And Ronson insists that despite his trans-Atlantic accent, he is desperate to be accepted as British.
“Coming back to England really helped me to rediscover my roots – and my music. It means a lot to me to be accepted in the UK,” he said. “Despite living in New York, I’ve always been British.”
