Tom Cruise has been signed up to star in a World War II thriller about a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler.
The untitled film from X-Men and The Usual Suspects director Bryan Singer is being made for Cruise’s film company United Artists.
The film is said to be based on a number of true stories of plots by both the Allies as well as Germans opposed to Hitler who wanted to kill the Nazi leader.
“After reading the script, Tom and I knew immediately that this was a film that we had to make,” said United Artists boss and Cruise’s business partner Paula Wagner.
Wagner added: “As an added bonus, because of Bryan Singer’s involvement and Tom’s admiration for him as a filmmaker, as well as the excellence of the script, the project attracted Tom as an actor. I cannot think of a more perfect combination of creative elements for our second production.”
