Comedy legend Mel Brooks has revealed that his next movie will be a horror movie about a homicidal pizza delivery man.

The 85-year-old – best known for such classics as The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie and History Of The World Part I – is set to produce, rather than direct, the movie, which will go into production next year.

“I’ve got a script and I’ve got a director,” Brooks told the film magazine Fangoria.

“Pizzaman was written years ago was written years ago by my longtime collaborators Steve Haberman and Rudy De Luca. They did Dracula: Dead and Loving It for me, a great comedy horror film.

“Then they also did Life Stinks, in which I starred,” the filmmaker added. It was funny and very moving, too. It was one of the best pictures I ever did as an actor. So these guys are not untalented.”

Pizzaman tells the story of a young man who is locked up in an insane asylum for a crime he did not commit – and upon being released, becomes a pizza delivery man in order to carry out murderous revenge on the people who framed him.

Scriptwriter Haberman will also direct the film, which is tipped to star Stacy Keach and Cary Elwes – who previously worked with Brooks on Robin Hood: Men In Tights.
