Israeli film Waltz With Bashir has scooped the Best Picture honour at the annual National Society of Film Critics awards.
The film, which chronicles the 1982 Lebanon War, was named the best movie of 2008 at Saturday’s event.
Sean Penn received the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Harvey Milk, San Francisco’s first openly gay elected official.
Mike Leigh walked away with Best Director and Screenplay for his comedy Happy-Go-Lucky.
