Willem Dafoe and Jeff Goldblum will star in a new film about the horrors of the Holocaust based on Yoram Kaniuk’s acclaimed novel Adam Resurrected being made by production company Bleiberg Entertainment.
Goldblum will play Adam Stein, a former circus clown who is spared the gas chamber so he can entertain Jews as they march to their deaths.
After the war, he then becomes a leader at an asylum for survivors of the Holocaust in Israel’s Negev desert.
The film will re-team Dafoe, who plays a Nazi officer whose life is saved by Goldblum’s character, with director Paul Schrader.
The two previously worked together on 1997′s Affliction and 2002′s Autofocus.
Production is set to begin in April with shooting locations in Germany, Romania and Israel.
