Gervasis Turns Down Allen Role

Published on November 16, 2007 with No Comments

Comedian Ricky Gervais turned down the chance to work with veteran director Wody Allen – because he is convinced the filmmaker has lost his ability to produce good movies.

The creator of the The Office and Extras was offered a part in one of Allen’s recent productions, but Gervais pulled out when he saw who else the director had in mind for the film.

“When I saw the rest of the cast – other British people on telly – I just pulled out of it. I thought: that’s no fun,” he reveals. “This is the Woody Allen who doesn’t know. He thinks these people are all good because he likes the accent. Woody Allen isn’t Woody Allen any more.”
