Having proved to be a hit in the UK as well as USA, Sacha Baron Cohen is hoping his Borat movie will prove popular with Israelis when it is released on November 30.
Already one fan is his maternal grandmother who watched a midnight preview of the film in her home town of Haifa in October and then called her grandson at 4am to express her approval of it.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan has made over $75m across the world and Israeli filmgoers are already looking forward to seeing the film and Borat creator Sacha Baron Cohen is also said to be booked on a flight to Israel for its release.
“My cousins in America and the UK have told me all about it, I can’t wait to see it,” one Borat fan told Jewtastic. “I’ve seen all the teasers on You Tube and looking forward to seeing the film in full.”
A screening of the film as part of the Haifa Film Festival last month proved so popular that tickets were being sold for three times face value with Baron Cohen fans desperate to see their hero on the big screen before anyone else.
